2004 TRACK OUTLOOK: Planning on redshirting indoors. Outdoors, he will throw the hammer and the shot put. COACH’S COMMENTS: “Isaac had a breakthrough year last year, breaking two indoor records and throwing the hammer 191-0. We're looking for him to improve and have a shot at qualifying for nationals outdoors." 2002-03: Set the school record in the 35 pound weight throw, throwing it 58-8 1/2 at the Houston RunSport All-Comers Meet. He finished first at the Houston Indoor Classic and the Houston Indoor Invitational. Broke the school record in the shot put at the Houston Indoor Invitational with a throw of 51-0 3/4. 2001-02: Ybarra picked up two victories indoors and in the process set a school record of 51-9 in the weight throw. Outdoors, he won the Angela Procter Open and at the Angelo State relays, and picked up a pair of second place finishes in the hammer throw. Ybarra set the UTPA hammer throw record at Angelo State at 175-01. 2000-01: As a freshman, he set personal records in three different throwing disciplines at the Angela Procter Invitational – 146-09 1/2 in the discus, 130-0 in the hammer, and 47-11 1/2 in the shot put. PREP: As a senior, he set the Sharyland High School record in the shot put, and finished third at the Texas 5A regional championships in the discus. For his efforts he earned All-District and All-Rio Grande Valley honors.
