J.C. Crosby
Senior, Pharr, TX (PSJA HS)

2004 TRACK OUTLOOK: Crosby will concentrate on the shot and discus. COACH’S COMMENTS: “I'm looking for J.C. to have a very good year. He was hampered by a pulled groin in 2003, but he has come back, and he could have an excellent year in the shot put.” 2003-03: Indoors, he threw the 35 pound weight 42-5 1/4 at the Houston Indoor Classic, the third best throw in UTPA history. His shot put of 47-4 1/2 at the same meet ranks as UTPA's seventh best. Outdoors, he threw the hammer 148-10 at the Dogwood Invitational, the third best mark at UTPA. Threw the shot 50-3 1/2 inches at the UTPA Open, which also ranks as UTPA's third best mark. 2001-02: Crosby posted a best of 46-2 ¾ with the indoor shot, and 49-3 ¾ outdoors. He posted a season best of 148-8 in the discus at Texas A&M-Kingsville. 2000-01: Crosby threw the discus a season best 141-11 as a freshman, and threw the hammer 106-4 3/4. PREP: While at PSJA, Crosby was the top-ranked shot and discus thrower in the Rio Grande Valley. He finished second in both the shot and the discus at the district championships as a senior, and finished sixth at the Texas Relays. Crosby was also an outstanding student, being named High School Sports Extra Academic Student of the Month, a Border Patrol All-Academic Student, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Magazine Student of the Month.
