2004 TRACK OUTLOOK: An all-around athlete as well as a good hurdler, Clinton will be UTPA's multi-event specialist this season. COACH’S COMMENTS: “Matt is coming off a PR indoors in the 55 meter hurdles. He redshirted outdoors due to an injury. Hopefully, he will come back storng and see action in the decathlon this spring.” 2002-03: Had a personal best time of 7.85 seconds in the 55 meter hurdles at the Houston Indoor Invitational-the fourth fastest time in school history. He also long jumped 20-2 1/4 at the same meet. 2001-02:Concentrating on the hurdles as a freshman, Clinton clocked a personal 110 meter record of 14.68 at Baylor. He finished third at both the Angela Procter Open and Texas A&M-Kingsville Invitational. PREP: Clinton was an All-Area performer in both his junior and senior seasons. An all-around athlete and two-time team captain, he threw the discus 130 feet and the shot 43 feet, while recording personal bests of 14.07 in the 110 meter hurdles, and 40.1 in the 300 meter hurdles. He helped his team to a regional track championship, and also earned varsity letters in basketball and football.
