2004 TRACK OUTLOOK: Looking to once again qualify for the regional championships, and work towards being a national qualifier in the high jump. . COACH’S COMMENTS: “Marlin is ready to have a big year. After being an outdoor regional qualifier at 6-10 1/2, I think he could clear seven feet ” 2002-03: Indoors, cleared 6-7 in the high jump at the Houston Indoor Opener. Outdoors, high jumped 6-10 3/4 at the Texas relays, the second best mark ever at UTPA. Finished first at the UTPA Open. 2001-02: After recovering from an injury, he posted an indoor season best of 6-7 1/4 at the Houston Open. He eventually improved to 6-8 1/4 outdoors at both Rice and the Texas Invitational. He also won the Texas-San Antonio Invitational, with a jump of 6-7. PREP: Manley finished sixth at the New Balance Nationals in the high jump, with a leap of 6-8. At the 3A Virginia High School State Championship, he was silver medalist in both the indoor and the outdoor high jump. He ser a prep bests of 6-10 in the high jump, 22-3 in the long jump, and 44-5 in the triple jump.
