Edinburg, Texas - Texas-Pan American will head to Houston to compete in the Rice Bayou Classic, Saturday, March 27. Rice, UTPA, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State, Texas State-San Marcos, Trinity and Incarnate Word will bring both men's and women's teams. Harvard will bring their men's team while women teams are expected from Hawaii, Eastern Illinois and Texas.

"I felt we had an average meet last weekend." Said head coach Ricky Vaughn. "For whatever reason, as a whole, we were just flat. I'm expecting us to be more mentally focused and ready to compete. Rowena Hamlet (So./Mississaugua, Ontario, Canada/Lorne Park Secondary School) is right on the edge of getting to regionals in the 400M Hurdles. It was fun to watch Clarisse Arredondo (Sr./McAllen, Texas/Centenary) to win the Javelin. Last weekend was only the third time she has thrown the javelin and every meet she has thrown farther. I wish we had her for another year for I feel her best throws are still ahead of her."
