Edinburg, Texas - Rashaad Ben (Sr./Austin, Texas/Sidney Lanier HS) broke his own school record for the second time this season to highlight the Houston/ Run Sports All-Comers meet in Houston today. Ben ran :08.02 in the 60M Hurdles to break the school record of :08.09 he had set last week. His time placed him third overall and first among collegiate runners.
All told, the Broncs had 12 season best performances, five additions to the top ten indoor record list and 17 top ten finishes among collegiate competitors. Hector Gandara ran 15:26.73 to win the 5000M with the ninth fastest time in UTPA history. Deneb Deluna (Jr./Mission, Texas/Sharyland HS) had a huge PR as she threw 47-2.25 to place 2nd in the Shot Put. That was the second longest throw in school history and was a PR for her by just over four feet. Cracking into the top ten in Texas-Pan American history was Amy Torvik (So./Los Fresnos, Texas/Los Fresnos HS) in the 800 (2:20.13 - 7th) and Debbie Escobar (Sr./Roma, Texas/Roma HS) in the Pole Vault (8-0.25 - 2nd).
