Edinburg, Texas - Texas-Pan American will begin the outdoor season at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas on Saturday, March 6.

"The Border Olympics used to be the first major meet of the outdoor season." Said head coach Ricky Vaughn. "All the top teams like UCLA, Florida, LSU and Tennessee used to come down to this meet. With advent of indoor track and field, the meet has kind of died off. The Laredo School District is running the meet and they are making an effort to restore the meet to its prominence of the past. With some of our younger kids, we just want them to get established and get the outdoor season off to a good start. A few of the kids, we are looking for them to hit regional qualifying marks. If they get it done, then we can work on technique and lower those marks."
