Release: Thursday, January 30, 2003 UTPA TRACK TEAM RETURNS TO HOUSTON EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American track and field team will continue their 2003 indoor season when they participate at the Houston Indoor Classic at the University of Houston Saturday. Field events will begin at 9:00 a.m. and running events start at 12 noon. The final event, the 4 X 400 meter relay, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. A number of teams will be represented at the meet, with Rice, Southern Mississippi, Southwest Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Christian, Nevada-Las Vegas, New Orleans, Texas-Arlington, Texas Southern, Southern and Texas' women's team scheduled to join Texas-Pan American and the host Cougars. The Broncs finished sixth in an eight-team field last weekend at the Houston Indoor Opener, while the Lady Broncs were eighth of 12 teams. "Once again, we will be going to a high quality meet," said UTPA Head Coach Ricky Vaughn. "We'll definitely be challenged, and I expect us to have a lot better performances this week. We already have one indoor meet under our belt, so our athletes who are a little less experienced indoors can develop some better strategies to help them out.
