MOSES 15TH AT NCAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
FAYETTEVILLE, AR-Junior Amy Moses (Edinburg, TX/Edinburg North HS) made the first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships by a member of The University of Texas-Pan American's track and field team a successful one.
Moses threw the 20-pound weight 58 feet, 4 ½ inches and finished 15th in her first appearance at the NCAAs at the University of Arkansas.
"Amy didn't do exactly as well as we hoped, but she will definitely learn a lot from this," said UTPA Head Coach Ricky Vaughn. "There's no doubt that her appearance was a big plus both for her and for our program. The next time she makes it, there's no doubt that she'll do better. She had an incredible season, and for her to even qualify was something, considering that last year was the first year she ever threw the weight."
"I'm glad that I made it here, although I wish I had done a little better," said Moses. "It was a good experience for me. It shows me a different way to look at my training and my meets in the future. Now, I know how I have to train and set goals for myself in the future."
Texas-Pan American will return to competition when they compete outdoors at the Whataburger Invitational in San Antonio next weekend.
