UTPA HEADS FOR WHATABURGER/UTSA RELAYS
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's track and field team will return to action when they compete in their second meet of the outdoor season this weekend. They will travel to San Antonio for the Whataburger/UTSA Relays Friday and Saturday.
The meet will be held at Gustafson Stadium. The meet will include student-athletes from universities as well as high schools. University events will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, with the final running event, the 3000 meter run, scheduled for 8:40 p.m. Saturday's events begin at 9:00 a.m. with the final event, the 4 X 400 meter relay, scheduled for 3:20 p.m.
UTPA Head Coach Ricky Vaughn said that his team is better off for having already competed outdoors (at Texas A&M-Kingsville two weeks ago). "That helped us a lot," said Vaughn. "Now our people know where they are, and they know what they have to do to step up their performances."
The meet will see the Broncs and Lady Broncs battle Southwest Texas State and Texas Tech, as well as the host Roadrunners. "This is a high quality meet," said Vaughn. "Since we already have one meet under our belt, we'll be looking for some better performances."
Texas-Pan American will return home to host the Angela Procter Invitational next weekend.
