KELLY AND ANDERSON SIGN WITH LADY BRONCS
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American has added two more track and field recruits for the fall.
Amber Kelly of Dobie High School and Houston, Texas and Bethany Anderson of Kennedale High School and Arlington, Texas will join the Lady Broncs this fall. Each will enter UTPA as a freshman, with four years of eligibility.
Anderson was a member of relay teams that finished second at the Texas State Championships in both the 4 X 100 and 4 X 200 meter relay. Kelly throws the discus and the shot. She finished fifth at the Texas Class 5A Championships in the shot put, with a throw of 43 feet, 10 inches.
"I'm excited that we signed Amber," said UTPA Head Coach Ricky Vaughn. "Amber has really good talent and can step in and have an immediate impact for us. She's a good athlete, and I expect her to really help us as a thrower."
"Bethany comes from a good team, and she's going to help
us out tremendously in the sprint area," Vaughn continued. "She's
been primarily a relay runner, but she comes from a very good high school team
that is always in the running to win a state championship. It's important to
get people who have been on a good team and can help us, and I expect her to
help us in the sprints as well as in relays."
Kelly and Anderson join Britney Hilton of Texas City High School and Texas City,
Texas, Ashley Leal and Lizet Garcia, who are from McAllen Texas, and McAllen
High School, and Ashley Perez of Falfurrias, Texas and Falfurrias High School
in joining the Lady Broncs for the fall.
