EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's volleyball team is entering the home stretch of their current home stand.

The Lady Broncs, who are 12-9, will host a pair of matches this weekend. They'll host their alumni in an exhibition match Friday evening, and Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon.

The alumni match is scheduled for Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. It will give the Lady Broncs a chance to renew old acquaintances. "The alumni match is always a fun event," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "It's a great chance to catch up with old friends, and see how everyone is doing. It also gives our players an opportunity to scrimmage instead of just practice. We'll approach the alumni match like any other regular match. This game is the season for the alumni. They're former Division I players, and they're good."

IPFW won the Independent Tournament last season. The Mastodons are 10-9, and broke a three-game losing streak Tuesday night with a four-game win against Chicago State. IPFW will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Alcorn State Saturday before visiting the UTPA Fieldhouse Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

"IPFW is the only team that has beaten us at the Independent Championships," said Thorn. "We definitely want to get some pay back. They're solid, and have two excellent right side hitters. We haven't seen a lot of teams with good attacks from the right side, it's the reverse of what you usually see."

After Sunday's match, the Lady Broncs will return to action when they visit Texas-San Antonio Wednesday evening.
