LADY BRONCS FALL TO UCONN IN FIVE GAMES The Lady Broncs had come back to tie the score by winning the third and fourth games, and led, 13-10, in the fifth game when the Huskies rallied to tie it. Junior outside hitter Cathi Netemeyer (Los Fresnos, TX/Los Fresnos
HS/Iowa) had 25 kills and 18 digs to lead the Lady Broncs. Freshman
setter Karen Lyons (McAllen, TX/McAllen Memorial HS) had a career-high

kills and 17 digs, and freshman libero Carol Marcengo (Curitiba, Brazil/
SPEI HS) added 13 digs. It was the 13th consecutive match in which
Marcengo has had at least 10 digs. "It was a battle back and forth, and we got down, 2-0, came back, and led for most of the fifth game," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "We just couldn't put the ball down when we needed to. I'm proud of my team for battling back. We've lost three straight five-game matches, and it's tough." UTPA fell to 12-12 with the defeat, while Connecticut improved to
13-10. The Lady Broncs will return to action when they host Texas
Southern Wednesday evening.
