EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's volleyball team is getting ready to play at home for the final three times this season.

The first two matches of the Lady Broncs' 'final 2003home stand will take place this weekend. Texas-Pan American will bring a 14-12 record into their match against visiting Texas-El Paso Friday evening, and Liga Municipal Select of Reynosa in an exhibition match Saturday night. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

The Miners will bring a 6-17 record into Friday night's match. UTEP is 1-8 in Western Athletic Conference play, and broke an 11-match losing streak with a three-game victory at Boise State last Saturday.

"I'm definitely excited to play on our home floor," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "UTEP is an excellent team, and the match should be a very good test for us. They have a couple of good outside hitters, particularly Jennifer Abbruzzese, who has been a thorn in our side. Hopefully, we can contain her."

Saturday's match will see the Lady Broncs face a team from Reynosa. "They're a club team composed of former Mexican college players," said Thorn. "They have a lot of wily veterans, and they play a different style of volleyball. They don't have many quick attacks, they hit a lot of high balls on the outside, and they always play well defensively. It will be good for our team to play someone other than ourselves."

The Lady Broncs will play their final home match of the season next Tuesday evening against Texas A&M-Kingsville. It will be Senior Night, and it will precede the men's basketball team's exhibition game against Monterrey Tech.
