EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's volleyball team has swept the Independent Player of the Week awards.

Senior outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski (Walnut, CA/Walnut HS) has been named Independent Defensive Player of the Week, and junior outside hitter Cathi Netemeyer (Los Fresnos, TX/Los Fresnos HS/Iowa) has been named Independent Offensive Player of the Week. The winners were selected by a vote of sports information directors of the independent schools.

Netemeyer, who shared the offensive honor last week, has had at least 20 kills in four of her last five matches. She had 27 kills last Saturday in a three-game Lady Bronc sweep against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Muszynski had 23 digs in UTPA's two matches last week. She had 16 against the Islanders, and seven in two games against Texas Southern.

"It's a great honor for both of them," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "It shows how well the team is playing. Any time an individual gets an award, it ultimately comes because the team is playing well. Getting a couple of wins last weeks helped our team and it helped Cathi and Jaclyn win."
