"It was a hard-fought game, but, unfortunately, we weren't ready in the first two games," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "We made too many unforced errors, and in a two or three-point game, that can be the difference. I'm proud of my team for fighting back to take it to a fifth game. Even though we lost, I'm glad that the game was decided by one team winning rather than another team losing."

With the loss, the Lady Broncs fell to 13-13, while TAMU-CC improved to 13-17. Texas-Pan American will host New Mexico State Monday night in their final home match of the 2002 season.
