LADY BRONCS DROP FINAL TWO MATCHES IN CALIFORNIA LONG BEACH, CA-The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball team concluded their season Saturday, dropping a pair of matches at the Balden Thanksgiving Classic at the Pyramid at Long Beach State University. Texas-Pan American fell to the University of Califonia-Irvine, 30-22, 30-19, and 30-24. Earlier in the day, the Lady Broncs also dropped a match to San Jose State, 30-22, 30-18 and 30-20. "We had a couple of tight matches," said UTPA Head Coach Dave Thorn. "The difference was ball control. The teams we played did a better job of ball control, and we weren't consistent enough." UCI held a .373 to .216 hitting advantage over the Lady Broncs. San Jose State also out hit UTPA, .348 to .127. Sophomore outside hitter Cathi Netemeyer (Los Fresnos, TX/Los Fresnos HS/Iowa) led UTPA against UC-Irvine with 20 kills, hitting .386 and adding nine digs. Junior outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski (Walnut, CA/Walnut HS) had nine kills and a team-best 12 digs. Kelly Wing led the Anteaters with 21 kills. Rebecca Larsen had 12, while Chanda McLeod had 11, and Amanda Vasquez added 10. Muszynski led the Lady Broncs against San Jose State with 14 kills, hitting .265. Muszynski also tied for the team lead with eight digs. Netemeyer had eight kills and eight digs, while freshman middle blocker Stephanie Redd (Seguin, TX/Seguin HS) had five kills. Stephanie Pascucci had a match-high 16 kills for SJSU, hitting .542. Fran Pozzi added 15 kills, while Kimberly Noble had 13. With the losses, the Lady Broncs concluded their season with a record of 16-19. San Jose State improved to 15-16, and UC-Irvine improved to 19-11.
