EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's basketball team will close out first semester home action when they host Marshall and Central Michigan at the UTPA Fieldhouse this weekend.
The Lady Broncs will play Marshall Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Sunday's game against CMU will start at 2:00 p.m.
Texas-Pan American takes a 5-3 record into Friday night's game. The Lady Broncs have lost their last two games after getting off to a 5-1 start.
Marshall is 5-1 after a 53-50 loss to Austin Peay Monday evening. The Thundering Herd are fourth in the nation in rebounding margin, outrebounding their opponents by an average of 14 rebounds per game. Marshall received votes in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll last week. It was the first time they have received votes in a national poll.
Central Michigan is 2-5 prior to playing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday evening. The Chippewas have lost their last two games since defeating East Tennessee State for third place at the Xavier Invitational.
"Marshall is a very athletic team," said UTPA Head Coach DeAnn Craft. "They are one of the leading rebounding teams in the nation, and we'll have to do a good job defensively against them and take care of the basketball. Central Michigan has good size, and we'll have to play well against them. These are our last two games before the break, and we hope to finish strong."
After Sunday's game, the Lady Broncs will be off until they visit Tulsa Sunday, December 28th.
