EDINBURG, TX -The University of Texas-Pan-American's women's basketball
team returns to action Tuesday night. The Lady Broncs will take a two-game
winning streak into their game against Northern Colorado. Game time
at the UTPA Fieldhouse is 7:00 p.m.
Texas-Pan American is 9-12, and is coming off a 75-72 victory at Indiana-Purdue-Fort
Wayne last Saturday afternoon. "We need to continue to play with
intensity," said UTPA Head Coach DeAnn Craft. "We did some
really good things in the game against Fort Wayne, and we need to come
back and defend our home court. We have yet to have both our interior
and our perimeter play well on game night. We need to play a complete
basketball game."
Northern Colorado, a first-year NCAA Division I team, is an independent
and has compiled a 12-8 record. The Bears had their two-game winning
streak broken when they lost at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday.
Amber Elliott leads UNC with 16.3 points per game and the Bears average
nearly ten three-pointers per game, which would be tops in Division
I if they were not a first-year Division team and ineligible to be listed
in the stats.
"Northern Colorado is a very good shooting team," said Craft.
"They are not one-dimensional, they have deep three range, and
they are a tremendous catch and shoot team. They run their offense extremely
well, and we have to try to jam their shooters."
After Tuesday's game, Texas-Pan American will return to action when
they visit Prairie View A&M next Monday, February 11th.
