Edinburg, Texas - Northern Arizona (11-15) surged late in the first half and never looked back in its 64-49 win over Texas-Pan American (13-15). The Lady Broncs ended up with 13 wins which is the most in school history.

For the first ten minutes, the two teams battled on even terms. Two free throws by Kristi Dudley (Fr./Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill HS) made it 13-11, UTPA with 10:18 to go in the first half. The Lumberjacks ended the half on a 28-12 run that put them up by 14 at halftime. The Lady Broncs were never able to get closer than 13 points in the second half.

For Northern Arizona, Natalie Metz had 17 points, Alexis Rhodes had 15 points and eight rebounds and Lacey Tolbert had 12 points, six assists and five steals.

For Texas-Pan American, Molly Schamel (Jr./Hector, N.Y./Yavapai College) had 17 points. Amanda Carlow (Sr./Pine Ridge, S.D./Northeast CC) had one assist to finish with 101 for the season. That is the sixth highest single-season mark in UTPA history.

"This was a very physical game which is not our style." Said head coach De Ann Craft. "We just didn't match the level of physical play Northern Arizona had in the first half. They shot the ball very well in the first half hitting at 48% to our 24%. I thought we were much more aggressive in the second half. We played great defense and our three freshmen; MaHogany Daniel (Corpus Christi, Texas/Mary Carroll HS), Kristi and Azzie Knox (Temple, Texas/Temple HS) really stepped it up. Molly had a great game and aggressive the whole time. If our intensity is a sign of things to come, we are well on our way."
