LADY BRONCS ADD AZZIE KNOX FOR FALL

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's basketball team has added their second recruit for the fall.

Azzie Knox, a 5-10 forward from Temple High School in Temple, Texas, has signed with the Lady Broncs. She will enter as a freshman, with four years of eligibility.

Knox averaged 16 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.4 steals a game as a senior. She was named first All-District in each of her last three seasons at THS, and was named All-Region by both the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Named All-Tournament and to the All-Super Centex Team, Knox was coached by Don Layton at Temple HS.

"Azzie is tremendously explosive," said Texas-Pan American Head Coach DeAnn Craft. "She brings something to our program that we identified as a legitimate need, which is speed, versatility, and explosive quickness. She has good fundamentals, and we feel that will enable her to play strong minutes for us as a freshman. Azzie can score and she can board. She averaged 16 points per game while being double and triple-teamed, so we feel that she will be a dynamic player for us. She comes from a great family and a great background, and she has a great work ethic. It's a tremendous signing for us, and it speaks volumes about where we expect this program to go."

Knox joins MaHogany Daniel of Corpus Christi, who signed with the Lady Broncs last fall.
