LADY BRONCS ADD DUDLEY FOR FALL
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's basketball team has added their fifth recruit for the fall.
Kristi Dudley, a 6-0 forward from Cedar Hill High School in the Dallas suburb of Cedar Hill, TX, will join the Lady Broncs for the fall. She will enter as a freshman, with four years of eligibility.
Dudley averaged 13 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game as a senior, leading CHHS in all three of those categories. She made 47.6 per cent of her field goal attempts, was named second team All-Region by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, and is an alternate for the Texas Girls Coaches' Association All-Star Game in Austin this summer.
Named co-Most Valuable Player in District 4-5A, Dudley earned Academic All-District honors, and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Sandra Meadows Duncanville Tournament, one of the most prestigious tournaments in Texas. She was also her team's Most Valuable Player, and her coach at Cedar Hill was former Sam Houston State standout Amy Tennison.
"Kristi is a great high school rebounder, and we're looking at her as being one of the freshmen we will be building our team around," said Texas-Pan American Head Coach DeAnn Craft. "Kristi has only been playing basketball since she was in ninth grade, and she has a chance to become an elite player. We're thankful that she was able to play a year under Amy, because now she has a great understanding of what will be required at our level. She has the athletic ability to play at the top of the press defensively, and, offensively, she's a great rebounder."
Dudley joins Arrita Oler of Coffeyville Community College, Ashley Roberts of Butler County Community College, and Azzie Knox of Temple High School, all of whom have signed with UTPA this spring, and MaHogany Daniel of Corpus Christi Carroll High School, who signed with the Lady Broncs last fall.
