LADY BRONCS ADD LEWIS FOR FALL
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's basketball team has added their seventh recruit for the fall.
Kim Lewis, a 5-11 guard from Roland, Oklahoma, will join the Lady Broncs this fall. Lewis played at Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri as a sophomore and at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma as a freshman. She played at Roland High School, and will enter Texas-Pan American as a junior, with two years of eligibility.
As a sophomore at Crowder, Lewis helped lead the Lady Riders to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Tournament. She averaged 14 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, and ranked 19th nationally in free throw percentage, making 82.9 per cent of her shots from the line. She was named All-Region. As a freshman, she was named an Academic All-American at EOSC.
At Roland HS, Lewis earned All-Region honors and was named an alternate for Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State honors. Named honorable mention All-State by the Tulsa World, Lewis was chosen Conference Most Valuable Player, All-Area, and made the All-Tournament Team at the Sequoyah Tournament. She was the fourth leading scorer among Class 4A Players in Oklahoma. Her father, Ed, is the boys' basketball coach at Roland HS.
"Kim has a great feel for the game, since she's the daughter of a coach," said UTPA Head Coach DeAnn Craft. "She's a tremendous shooter who has the knowledge to always take good shots, she understands the value of each possession, and she is a tremendous pull-up jump shooter who has a great awareness of each situation. She has been brought up with a complete understanding of the game, and she played in a perfect system and program."
Lewis joins Molly Schamel of Yavapai College, Kristi Dudley of Cedar Hill High School, Arrita Oler of Coffeyville Community College, Ashley Roberts of Butler County Community College, and Azzie Knox of Temple High School, all of whom have signed with UTPA this spring, and MaHogany Daniel of Corpus Christi Carroll High School, who signed with the Lady Broncs last fall.
