Little Rock, Ark. - Five was the number of the day for Texas-Pan American. The Lady Broncs shot 325-335 for 660 to tie for 5th with Eastern Michigan (331-329) after two rounds of the Lindsey Collegiate Classic. Elisabeth Rodriguez (Fr./Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS) shot 74-81 for a 155 and is in fifth place individually. UTPA finishes the tournament tomorrow.
UTEP shot 315-311 for a 626 and have a huge 16 stroke lead over Arkansas-Little Rock. In between UALR and the fifth place teams are Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3rd - 327-322=649) and Oral Roberts (4th - 327-331=658)
Individually, Annie Mallory (UTEP) shot 75-75 for 150 and leads by one stroke over her teammate, Amy Young (77-74). Joining Rodriguez among the top 20 is Stefanie Maynard (So./Pflugerville, Texas/Pflugerville HS) who shot 84-80 for 164 and is tied for 18th.
"I think we are raising some eyebrows with our play today," said
Head Coach Barb Odale. "A good portion of the teams behind us are
ranked ahead of us nationally. The girls are motivated to play well. This is
a really tough course. There was a lot of rain here, Sunday night and it made
the course long. You just aren't getting any rolls out there. I'm really proud
of the way Elisabeth has been playing."
