LADY BRONCS FORCED TO WITHDRAW AT NOTRE DAME

NOTRE DAME, IN-A long rain delay forced The University of Texas-Pan American's women's golf team to withdraw from the 15-team Notre Dame Invitational, at the Warren Golf Course Sunday. The Lady Broncs had been in 10th place after the first two rounds of play concluded Saturday.

The Lady Broncs shot scores of 338 and 328 and for a 36-hole total of 666, leaving them 17 strokes behind Eastern Michigan and Boston College after the first day of play. Host Notre Dame came back to win the tournament with a final round score of 312 and a 54-hole total of 938.

"We played nine holes Sunday, but there was a rain delay, and we had to withdraw, or we would not have been able to make our flight home," said UTPA Head Coach Barb Odale.

Sophomore Stefanie Maynard (Pflugerville, TX/Pflugerville, HS) shot scores of 82 and 79 for a 36-hole total of 161, sophomore Daniela Cortes (Aguascalientes, Mexico/ Colegio Portal) shot 85 and 83, and senior Itziar Unanue (Apodaca, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) shot 86 and 82, and both had two-round totals of 168.
