CHRISTINA INFANTE NAMED TO ALL-SCHOLAR TEAM

CHICAGO, IL-A golfer from The University of Texas-Pan American women’s team has been honored.

Junior Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) has been named to the 2001-2002 All-Scholar Team by the National Golf Coaches Association.

Infante, who has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and is majoring in marketing, qualified by virtue of her grade-point average and the fact that she played regularly for the Lady Broncs this past season. Athletes named to the team must have a minimum of a 3.40 grade-point average if they are juniors and seniors, and must have competed in at least two-thirds of the team’s scheduled rounds of golf during the season. Infante competed in 25 rounds during the past year. Her best round was an 89 at the Northern Illinois/Snowbird Invitational March 15th.

“I think it’s a great honor for Christina,” said UTPA Head Coach Barb Odale. “It shows that you had success both on and off the course. Christina played every round in all of our tournaments, and maintained a high GPA, and she is to be commended.”

Infante was one of 155 NCAA Division I golfers named to the team. In all, 232 women’s golfers were honored.
