LADY BRONCS 7TH AFTER 1ST ROUND AT HUSKIE CLASSIC

HUNTLEY, IL-The University of Texas-Pan American’s women’s golf team is in seventh place after the first day of action at the two-day, 10-team Huskie Classic at the Whisper Creek Golf Club.

The Lady Broncs shot a first round score of 351 Sunday, leaving them two strokes behind sixth-place Dartmouth. Western Michigan leads the tournament with a score of 320, followed by Ball State at 337, UC Riverside at 338, Eastern Illinois at 342, and Loyola-Chicago at 345. Following the Lady Broncs were host Northern Illinois at 361, Creighton at 365 and DePauw at 374.

Freshman Daniela Cortes (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Colegio Portal) led Texas-Pan American with an 18-hole score of 85, tying her for 10th place. Freshman Stefanie Maynard (Pflugerville, TX/Pflugerville HS) shot an 86 and is tied for 17th, freshman Nikki Boychuk (Conroe, TX/Willis HS) and junior Crystal Frazier (Coolidge, TX/Wortham HS) each shot scores of 90, and are tied for 24th, and sophomore Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS) shot a 94 and is 32nd.

The tournament will conclude Monday.
