Release: Monday, October 7, 2002 LADY BRONCS FINISH SIXTH AT HUSKIE CLASSIC HUNTLEY, IL-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's golf team finished sixth at the 10-team Huskie Classic that concluded Monday at the Whisper Creek Golf Club. The Lady Broncs shot a final round score of 333 Monday, allowing them to move up one place from the first round standings, and leaving them seven strokes behind fifth-place Loyola of Chicago. Western Michigan finished first with a score of 636, followed by Eastern Illinois at 648, Ball State at 653, and UC Riverside at 659. Following the Lady Broncs were Dartmouth at 694, DePauw at 697, Creighton at 699, and host Northern Illinois at 702. Freshman Daniela Cortes (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Colegio Portal) led Texas-Pan American. She shot a 79 Monday for a two-day score of 164, and finished in a tie for 10th place. Freshman Nikki Boychuk (Conroe, TX/Willis HS) shot an 82 for 172, tying her for 31st, while freshman Stefanie Maynard (Pflugerville, TX/Pflugerville HS) shot an 89 for 175 and finished 36th. Junior Crystal Frazier (Coolidge, TX/Wortham HS) shot an 86 for 176, and sophomore Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS) shot a 86 for 180, and finished 42nd. The Lady Broncs will return to action November 4th at Sam Houston State. WG-08-03 100702
