UTPA WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM 12TH AFTER FIRST DAY AT BAYLOR SHOOTOUT

BOERNE, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's golf team is in 12th place after the first day of action at the 12-team Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout at the Tapatio Springs Resort.

The Lady Broncs shot a first-round score of 335 in the three-day, 54-hole event. Texas-Pan American trails North Texas by six strokes.

Texas Christian is in first place with a score of 298. TCU is followed by Illinois and Missouri at 311, the host Bears at 312, Wisconsin at 313, Kent State at 315, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Notre Dame at 318, McLennan Community College at 321, and Texas-El Paso at 327.

Freshman Nikki Boychuk (Conroe, TX/Willis HS) leads the Lady Broncs with a score of 80 and a tie for 27th place. Freshman Stefanie Maynard (Pflugerville, TX/Pflugerville HS) shot an 83 and is tied for 44th, junior Crystal Frazier (Coolidge, TX (Wortham HS) shot an 85 and is tied for 54th, freshman Daniela Cortes (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Colegio Portal) shot an 87 and is tied for 59th, and sophomore Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson HS) shot an 89 and is tied for 63rd.

The tournament will continue Monday and conclude Tuesday.
