UTPA WOMEN’S
GOLF TEAM 12TH AFTER SECOND DAY AT BAYLOR SHOOTOUT
BOERNE,
TX—The University of
Texas-Pan American’s women’s golf team is in 12th place after the second day
of action at the 12-team Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout at the Tapatio Springs
Resort.
The Lady Broncs shot a second-round score of 335 in the three-day, 54-hole event
and is at 670, 16 strokes behind North Texas.
Missouri is in first place with
a score of 616. Texas Christian is next at 617, followed by Illinois
at 621, Baylor at 622, Kent State
at 631, Notre Dame at 644, Wisconsin
and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 645, and Texas-El Paso and McLennan
Community College at 653.
Freshman Stefanie Maynard
(Pflugerville, TX/Pflugerville HS) leads the Lady Broncs. She shot a second-round
score of 78 for a 36-hole total of 161 and a tie for 24th place. Freshman
Nikki Boychuk (Conroe,
TX/Willis HS) is next with
a score of 86, a total of 166 and a tie for 42nd. Junior Crystal Frazier (Coolidge,
TX (Wortham HS) shot an 86 and is tied for 54th at 171, freshman Daniela
Cortes (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Colegio Portal)
shot an 85 and is tied for 56th at 172, and sophomore Christine Treanor (Bulverde,
TX/Smithson HS) shot an 88 and is 63rd at 177.
The tournament will conclude
Tuesday.
