LADY BRONCS NINTH AFTER SECOND ROUND AT EKU
RICHMOND, KY-The University of Texas-Pan American women's golf team is in ninth place after the second round of the 15-team Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonel Classic at the Arlington Golf Course. The Lady Broncs shot a second-round score of 327 Friday, for a 36-hole total of 665, five strokes behind Southern Illinois.
Toledo is in first place with a score of 630, followed by Eastern Michigan at 636, Xavier at 642, Murray State at 643, Tennessee Tech at 646, and Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky, each of which are at 650. Following Texas-Pan American are Butler at 668, Austin Peay at 678, Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis at 687, Youngstown State at 698, Dayton at 719, and Tennessee State at 880.
Freshman Daniela Cortes (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Colegio Portal) is leading the Lady Broncs. She shot a second-round score of 81 for a 36-hole total of 162 and a tie for 23rd place. Freshman Stefanie Maynard (Pflugerville, TX/Pflugerville HS) shot an 83 for 165, and is tied for 39th place. Junior Crystal Frazier (Coolidge, TX (Wortham HS) shot an 80 for 168 and is in 47th place, freshman Nikki Boychuk (Conroe, TX/Willis HS) shot an 83 for 170 and a tie for 50th, and junior Itziar Unanue (Apodaca, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) shot an 86 for 179 and 73rd place.
The tournament will conclude Saturday.
