LADY BRONCS ADD TWO FOR THIS FALL

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American women's golf team has added their first two recruits for the fall.

Elizabeth Rodriguez of Kingwood, TX and Kingwood HS, and Natalie Haime, of Carleton Place, Ontario and Perth and District Collegiate Institute, will join the Lady Broncs this fall. Both will enter Texas-Pan American as freshmen, with four years of eligibility.

Rodriguez was the Region 2-5A runner-up, and will advance to the Texas Class 5A Championships as an individual, which will be played in Austin May 8th and 9th. Her parents, Rosie and Julio Rodriguez, both graduated from UTPA.

Haime began playing golf only four years ago. Her parents are both outstanding amateur players.

"Elizabeth has an outstanding short game," said UTPA Head Coach Barb Odale. "She is a good, solid player, and will be working on her long game in order for her to take the next step up to collegiate golf. She's one of the top players in the state of Texas, and she comes from a very strong high school program, she's very strong academically, and she's looking at going pre-med when she's here."

Odale was also enthusiastic about Haime. "Natalie has a really strong long game, and will be working on her short game," said Odale. "It snows several months out of the year where she lives. She's excited about coming here. Once she adjusts to the climate, if she develops quickly, she may be able to jump right into the lineup. Natalie plans to major in journalism, with a minor in drama."
