LADY BRONCS
FALL TO LOUISIANA-MONROE
EDINBURG,
TX—The University of Texas-Pan
American women’s tennis teams dropped a 7-0 decision to Louisiana-Monroe Sunday
afternoon at the Cox Tennis
Center. The Lady Indians improved
to 4-2, while Texas-Pan American fell to 2-10.
“I think we played hard,” said UTPA
Head Coach Todd Chapman. “They were just better today than we were. The effort
was there, but we didn’t come up with the shots”
At number two singles, sophomore
Kathryn Waslen (Calgary,
AB (West Island College) fell to Nataly
Ostovska, 6-6, 6-4. Waslen and senior Elisabet Mateos (Barcelona,
Spain/Arnau Cadell HS/Laredo CC) fell in the number one singles
match to Matilde Taborda and Anna Yenek, 8-3.
“Kathryn played well in her singles
match,” said Chapman. “She had some chances, but her opponent hit some great
shots.”
The Texas-Pan American women’s tennis
team will return to action Friday, when they travel to Colorado
Springs to play Idaho
State. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.
