Release: Monday, March 10, 2003 LADY BRONCS SPLIT AT AIR FORCE COLORADO SPRINGS, CO-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's tennis team split their last two matches on their four-match road trip to Air Force that concluded Monday. The Lady Broncs fell to the host Falcons, 7-0, Sunday night, then came back to defeat Southern Utah, 5-2, Monday afternoon. Sophomore Kathryn Waslen (Calgary, AB/West Island College) and freshman Elysia Sloan (Duncanville, TX/Duncanville HS) defeated Mandie Walker and Crystal Holt of the Thunderbirds at number two doubles to win the doubles point. Senior Elisabet Mateos (Barcelona, Spain/Arnau Cadell HS/Laredo CC), sophomore Ana Pena (McAllen, TX/Nikki Rowe HS), and freshman Laura Boskovich (San Jose, CA/St. Francis HS) then won their singles matches to help the Lady Broncs end a seven-match losing streak. Air Force swept all seven matches in straight sets in a match that concluded late Sunday evening. "It was nice for us to end the trip with a win," said UTPA Head Coach Todd Chapman. "We played some good competition, and even though we didn't do as well as we wanted to in terms of wins and losses, we stayed positive and came out ready to play today. Kathryn and Elysia played very well in doubles to pull out the doubles point, and Ana and Laura played very well in singles." The Lady Broncs improved to 3-13. Air Force is now 9-6, while Southern Utah fell to 0-4. Texas-Pan American will return to action when they play Cameron in San Antonio March 17th.
