LADY BRONCS FALL
BEAUMONT, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's women's tennis team
dropped a pair of matches on the road Saturday.
The Lady Broncs lost at Lamar, 6-1, and fell at Houston, 7-0.
Freshman Elysia Sloan (Duncanville, TX/Duncanville HS) was the only
double winner for the Lady Broncs, defeating April McClung of Lamar
in singles, 6-3, 6-1, and teaming with junior Jessica Brown (Sioux City,
IA/North HS) to defeat Paula Duncan and Jamie Mugg in doubles, 8-6.
"Against Lamar, we made too many unforced errors, and weren't
able to finish off our points," said UTPA Assistant Coach Elizabeth
Middleton. "Houston was a very good team. We have a lot we can
take away from the match, knowing what we need to work on and the level
that we can get to."
The Lady Broncs fell to 1-3 with the defeats. They will return to action
in two weeks when they travel to Texas-El Paso and New Mexico State.
