12/19/01-Simon Bowen Named Assistant Coach: The University of Texas-Pan American track and field and cross country program has added Simon Bowen as an assistant coach.

12/18/01-Robinson Promoted, Rodriguez Resigns:
Marisa Robinson has been promoted to the University of Texas-Pan American's top assistant cross country and track and field coaching position, replacing Gabe Rodriguez, who  resigned to pursue full-time graduate study.  

11/10/01-Broncs 14th at Regionals: The University of Texas-Pan American men’s cross country team finished 14th and the women finished 12th at the NCAA South Central Region Championships at Texas A&M Saturday.

11/05/01-UTPA XC Team to Regionals:
The University of Texas-Pan American cross country team will try to qualify for the NCAA Championships when they compete at the NCAA Regional Championships at Texas A&M this Saturday. 

11/02/01-Cervantes 1st, Broncs 2nd In Dual Meet : Sophomore Hugo Cervantes had his best day as a Bronc when the University of Texas-Pan American hosted Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a dual meet at the Ebony Hills Golf Course Friday. Cervantes finished first in the 7, 728 meter men’s race in 26:13.12 as the Broncs finished in second place. 

10/29/01-UTPA Hosts Final Tuneup: The University of Texas-Pan American cross country team will host their final tuneup for next weekend’s Region Championships when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a dual meet Friday morning at the Edinburg City Golf Course.

10/24/01-Marisa Robinson Named Assistant CC/Track and Field Coach:
Marisa Robinson, who began her track and field career in Montana and competed at Arkansas and San Diego State, is the newest member of the University of Texas-Pan American cross country and track and field coaching staff. 

10/19/01-Cervantes Leads Broncs at SWTSU Short Course: The Broncs finished 6th at the Southwest Texas State Short Course Friday evening. Hugo Cervantes led the men’s team by finishing sixth in 15:14. 

10/15/01-XC at SWTSU Short Course Friday: The University of Texas-Pan American cross country team will get one of their final warm-ups for the NCAA Regionals when they visit San Antonio for the Southwest Texas Short Course Invitational Friday evening. 

10/13/01-UTPA 11th, 17th at Texas A&M: The UTPA women finished 11th and the men finished 17th at the Texas A&M Classic. 

10/09/01-Cross Country Teams Visit Texas A&M Saturday: The University of Texas-Pan American cross country team will get an idea of what the NCAA Regional Championships will be like when they visit College Station for the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday. 

9/21/01-Cross Country Teams Second at Houston Invitational: Two was the operative number for the University of Texas-Pan American cross country teams at the University of Houston Invitational Friday evening. Both teams finished second, and senior Perla Rios-Handy (LaPorte, TX/ LaPorte HS) finished second individually.

9/17/01-Cross Country Teams to Visit Houston Friday: The University of Texas-Pan American cross country teams will return to action when they visit the University of Houston for the UH Invitational this Friday. The women’s race will be five kilometers, while the men will run 6K.

9/04/01 - Rios-Handy Finishes Second at TAMUCC Cross Country Event:  The University of Texas-Pan American cross-country teams opened their seasons at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Opening Splash, Friday night at West Guth Park.

UT-Pan American Announces Hiring of Ricky Vaughn as Men’s & Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Coach  
The University of Texas Pan American has announced the hiring of one of the most respected and successful field event coaches in the nation as it’s new Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country. Ricky Vaughn, who most recently served as an assistant coach for National Champion Louisiana State University, will begin his duties at UTPA in August.

10/28/00 - Rios, Hipolito Lead UT Pan American Cross Country at Adrian Martinez Invitational: Perla Rios picked up her first collegiate victory, while April Hipolito took third to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Cross Country team at the Adrian Martinez Invitational.  Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won the team title in both the men’s and women’s divisions of the meet.

10/26/00 - UT Pan American to Host Adrian Martinez Invitational Cross Country Meet Saturday Morning: The University of Texas-Pan American Cross Country Team will host the Adrian Martinez Memorial Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the Ebony Hills Golf Course in Edinburg.

10/21/00 - Rios, Hipolito Lead UT Pan American Cross Country Teams at Southwest Texas State: Perla Rios and April Hipolito both finished in the top 10 overall to lead the University of Texas-Pan American cross country teams at the Southwest Texas State Short-Course Meet Friday.

10/7/00 - UT Pan American Cross Country Teams Compete at Southwest Texas State: Perla Rios finished fifth individually, leading the University of Texas Pan American women’s cross-country team to a fifth place finish at the Southwest Texas State Classic Saturday morning.  The UTPA men’s cross-country team took seventh place.

10/3/00 - UT Pan American Announces Hiring of Gabriel Rodriguez as Assistant Track Coach: The University of Texas-Pan American Athletic Department announced the hiring of Gabriel Rodriguez as the Assistant Coach for the Cross Country and Track and Field programs on Tuesday.

9/23/00 - Rios, Hippolito Lead UT Pan American Cross Country Teams at Baylor Invitational: Senior Perla Rios and Freshman April Hippolito both finished in the top 30 on the women's side, leading the way for the University of Texas-Pan American cross country teams at the Baylor Invitational Saturday morning at the Texas Farm Bureau.

6/17/00 - Dana Colligan Gutierrez Resigns as UT Pan American Track and Field Head Coach: Dana Colligan Gutierrez, who has been head coach for the University of Texas-Pan American Cross Country and Track and Field programs for the last three years, resigned to accept a position on the coaching staff at Long Beach State it was announced on Saturday.

6/16/00 - UT Pan American Track and Field Announces Signing of Philip Wilhelmsson for 2001 Season: The University of Texas-Pan American Track and Field program announced on Friday the signing of Bastad, Sweden, native Philip Wilhelmsson to a letter of intent for the 2000-01 academic year.

11/13/99 - UT-Pan American Cross Country at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships: The University of Texas-Pan American Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Team finished in 15th and 13th place respectively at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships Saturday in Denton, TX.
