COLLEGE STATION, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's men's cross country team has achieved another milestone.
The Broncs have earned their first regional ranking in 12 years. Texas-Pan American is tied for 14th in the latest NCAA South Central Regional Cross Country Poll. The ranking is the first for UTPA since they were ranked sixth in the NCAA District VI Poll on October 17th, 1991. The rankings are selected by Division I cross country coaches in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, and released by Regional Chair David Hartman of Texas A&M.
"It's good that our men's team is getting a little recognition among the other teams in our region," said UTPA Ricky Vaughn. "It's kind of a reward for the hard work that we're doing, and the fact that we're starting to get recognized. Hopefully, we'll continue to improve leading up to the regional meet."
Texas-Pan American will return to action Saturday, October 18th at the Chili Pepper Invitational at Arkansas.
