The Department of Curriculum and Instruction consists of approximately       40 full time faculty positions with a commitment to building a learning community dedicated to collegial program development, shared governance, scholarship, and the preparation of education professionals to serve diverse learning environments.

The Department serves undergraduate students in the following teacher preparation programs:

• EC-4 Generalist
• EC-4 Bilingual Generalist
• Middle School (4-8)
• High School (8-12)
• All Level (EC-12)

Master Degree programs are offered in the following areas:

• Reading
• Reading Teacher Certificate
• Bilingual Education
• Elementary Education
• Secondary Education
• Early Childhood Education
  

The Department is recognized as one of the largest teacher preparation programs in the state of Texas and the largest producer of bilingual   education teachers in the U.S.
