Course Sequencing Agreement

This Agreement must be signed at the
School Counseling Program Orientation

If for some reason you could not attend Your orientation, you need to download the file, sign it, and take it to the Ed. Psychology Office asap.



Any deviations need prior approval from the program coordinator.

A grade of 'B' or better is required in every course with the exception of ED 6300 (now known as EPSY 6358) & EPSY 6370/EPSY 6350 in which a minimum grade of C is acceptable. 

In the event that I do not make a B in a required course, I understand that I will need to retake the course.

I understand that if I do not attend one entire semester (summer Is excluded), I will need to update my file with the Graduate Office not the Department of Psychology.

1. The following core courses need to be taken in strict sequence: 
EPSY 6361 ** can be taken concurrently with EPSY 6362
(Degree Plan must be completed by the end of EPSY 6361)
EPSY 6362 ** can be taken concurrently with EPSY 6361
EPSY 6363
EPSY 6364
EPSY 6365
EPSY 6368
EPSY 6369

*EPSY 6320 -Must be taken in the FALL semester
    

2. The following courses should be taken during the first twelve (12) hours in the Program:
EPSY 6370 (or 6350)
ED 6300 (now known as EPSY 6358)


3. The following courses may be taken at any time in the program but prior to EPSY 6369 - Practicum II :
EPSY 6390
EPSY 6391
EPSY 6366
EPSY 6367 -Must have completed both EPSY 6350/EPSY 6370
EPSY 6300/EPSY6301/EPSY 6303/PSY6305 (Individual Differences)
ED 6303/EPSY 7352/ EPSY 6315/ EPSY 6333 (Intervention Course)
 

4. Other Program Requirements: In order to graduate from the program, you must pass both of these program exams:
Oral Comprehensive Exam -- taken during EPSY 6364
Written Comprehensive Exam -- taken during EPSY 6368

DISCLAIMER:
The Guidance and Counseling Program CANNOT guarantee that all courses and all the necessary sections needed to accommodate all the students in the Program will be offered every semester or summer session. Course offerings are contingent upon funding and availability of qualified faculty.  Some classes have a very limited number of students allowed to register. For this reason, if you are not able to register on time, you may have to postpone taking it for a semester.

 
 I _________________________________________ (print your name) acknowledge that I have been advised as to the requirements of the Counseling and Guidance Program in the Educational Psychology Department at the University of Texas – Pan American.  I understand that if I do not adhere to the sequence of the courses recommended I will be subject to being dropped from such classes where I do not meet the prerequisites.  Furthermore, I also recognize that I must not only successfully complete the required coursework, but I must also successfully complete the oral and written exams to satisfy the requirements of this program.
