How would you describe your teaching
philosophy or style?
I have always believed that it is
important to involve the student in the
learning process as much as
possible. In order for the student to integrate the
material that is being presented the student must take an active role
in their own learning. The techniques that I use to
accomplish my goals for the course are, but not limited to:
lecture, role playing, modeling, small group discussion, and
group presentations.
What you like about
teaching at UTPA, especially your take on the students?
What I find very appealing about
teaching at UTPA is the collegiality that is evident among the faculty
of the College of Education and UTPA in general. The senior
faculty is very accepting and encouraging of the junior
faculty. They serve as excellent mentors. With regards to
the students in my classes, I could not ask for a better group.
The students are committed to not only the required assignments
but to our profession as future school counselors/therapists.
